I've written about Big Data book, in my previous post. I'm not totally agree with the author claim, that we need only need correlation. For me, causality and correlation
study should go together, to enrich each other.
But I totally agree about the risk that big data posses.
First risk is about privacy. Today's individual consent, anonymization and opting-out, is already obsolete, the author argues. "We need a new solution for this problem."
The second risk is about prediction. Big data can give us prediction of what will occur in the future. As a results, at extreme level, people can be punish for something before they do something. Remember Minority Report?
The last risk involving the data analysis. We can be so overly confident and blinded by the big data analysis results. And so, we are obsessed with datafication, even though it doesn't have any meaning.
In short, there are three risk that comes with big data. How can we handle it? Stay tuned for my next writing.
